Great place to work

By petekenworthy

One of our co-workers wrote on her facebook page today that she loves the people she works with.  How about that?  It’s not very often that you get to hear that from someone with whom you work – but it’s refreshing, isn’t it?

I’ve worked at three different stations in my career with various people coming and going and I can honestly say that I’ve never been more pleased with a group of co-workers than I am right now.  From the top to the bottom, the crew that puts together Good Morning Cleveland every day is passionate and puts in a great deal of effort every day.  Maybe I need to tell them that more often.

We’re all pretty worried about what’s going on in this economy and I think that everyone is concerned about their jobs – so why not do what we can?  Give someone a pat on the back.  Tell someone that you appreciate the work that they’re doing.  Praise a co-worker for something that they’ve done everyday.  I know I like it when someone tells me that I’ve done a good job.

Appreciation is effortless.  Try it, you may like it.  I know the other person will.

    Hi Pete,

What a great reminder, that kindness and positive reinforcement have such a huge impact on friends and coworkers. That is especially true with children! I have been retired for several years and “shop” often. When I am out and about, I am appalled at the way some parents/guardians speak, or rather yell, at their kids.

It seems like it would be such a simple thing to do, to be kind and gentle with others. Somehow it doesn’t work that way often enough. So in the spirit of positive reinforment I want to let you know what a good job you (and your coworkers) are doing and how much we enjoy watching Channel 5.

    Have a great day!

    Joan

Hey! I made the blog… but truly, it is awesome to work with the people that we do. It isn’t just the on air talent, but everyone at the station. I feel blessed with the on air talent that we do have though, because when I got into television, I never imagined so many people would ask about them. It is so easy to say, “Pete is great! He is comfortable and down to earth” or “Kimberly is a genuinely nice person.” or “Patty is so fun and funny.” because those things are true. I never have to “stretch the truth.

As for behind the scenes, we really do care about the on air “stuff” and continually try to make things work better. It helps that we all have such a good relationship.

Thanks Joan for adding to the “schmoopiness” and thanks for watching!
